PROBLEM CLEARING AGENT COMMENTS
Routine cleaning All finishes Soap mild detergent and water. (preferably warm) Sponge, rinse with clean water, wipe dry if necessary. Follow polish lines.
Fingerprints All finishes Soap warm water or organic solvent (eg acetone, alchol, methylated spirits) Rinse with clean water and pipe dry. Follow polish lines.
Stubborn stains and discoloration. All finishes. Mild cleaning solutions. Ensure any properietary cleaners state compatibility with stainless steel. Phpsphoric acid cleaners may also be effective Use rag, sponge or fibre brush (soft nylon or natural bristle. An old toothbrush can be useful). Rinse well with clean water and wipe dry. Follow polish lines.
Lime deposits from hard water. Solution of one part vinegar to three parts water. Soak in solution then brush to loosen. Rise well with clean water.
Oil or grease marks. All finishes. Organic solvents (eg. acetone, alchol, methylated spirits, proprietary "safety solvents"). Baked-on grease can be softened beforehand with ammonia Clean after  with soap and water, rinse with clean water and dry. Follow polish lines

Vegetable and Animal Oils (Cleaning Procedure)

 1. Butterworth the tank with seawater or freshwater with a temperature 20°C. above the melting point of the product to be cleaned. After sufficient pre-cleaning of at least 1.5 hours the temperature can be increased. Drying and Semi-drying ProductsThese are oxidising products and through reaction with oxygen they will dry and harden. Tank cleaning should be executed as soon as possible after discharge. High temperatures (e.g. cleaning or steaming) and heated cargoes in adjacent tanks should be avoided.
 2. Butterworth the tank with cold to warm seawater or freshwater.If the product has a higher melting point Butterworth the tank with seawater or freshwater with a temperature maximum 10°C above the melting point of the product. After sufficient pre-cleaning of at least 1.5 - 2 hours the temperature can be increased. Fatty Acids or  vegetable/animal oils with high free fatty acid contentsee the cleaning suggestion of Fatty Acids.
 3. If seawater was used in step 1 it is of utmost importance to flush/rinse the tank with freshwater before cleaning as per step 3 is continued.   
 4. Final cleaning : Prepare the following solution (A) in freshwater (see table):
 

  • Solution A(emulsification) 0. 4 % RXSOL-20-2045-210 Butterworth the tank with the prepared solution for 1, 5-2, 0 hours by recirculation. The necessary temperature can be achieved / maintained by means of heating coils, cargo heat exchanger or Butterworth heater. Depending on the amount of product residues the solution can be used for 1 to 4 tanks.On some vegetable/animal oils it is recommended to saponify additionally the product residues (see
    table): Therefore prepare one of the following solutions (B or C) in
    freshwater (see table):
     
  • Solution B 0.4 % RXSOL-20-2045-210 plus 2.5% Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) or Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)
     
  • Solution C 0.4 % RXSOL-20-2045-210 plus 2 - 5% RXSOL AL 2005

 5. continuedButterworth the tank with the prepared solution for 1, 5-2, 0 hours by recirculation. The necessary temperature can be achieved /maintained by means of heating coil (service tank) cargo heat  exchanger or Butterworth heater.If RXSOL-20-2045-210 is used the  cleaning temperature should be 60-70°C If Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide is used the cleaning temperature should be 60.C.If RXSOL-20-2045-210 Marine is used the cleaning temperature can be 70-80°C. Depending on the amount of product residues the solution can be used for 1 to 3 tanks.
 6. Butterworth the tank 1 hour with hot seawater
 7. Rinse the tank with fresh water
 8. Inspect the tank; if white residues or a white film is present (calcium/magnesium soaps or carbonate) Butterworth the tank with one the following solution: 3-5% phosphoric acid and 0.4% RXSOL-20-2045-210 (stainless steel only); or 3-5% nitric acid and 0.4% RXSOL-20-2045-210 (stainless steel only); or 5-10% citric acid and 0,4% RXSOL-20-2045-210 (also suitable for Epoxy Coatings) or 2% RXSOL-16-1011-025 Marine and 0,4% RXSOL-20-2045-210(also suitable for Epoxy Coatings) The cleaning temperature should be moderate (50°C.) Use heating coils not the Butterworth heater.
 9. Flush the tank with fresh water
10.Ventilate, mop and dry the cargo tank.


Note: for vegetable oils which can be cleaned only by the XSOL-20-2045-210 (Solution A) the final cleaning can be carried out by recirculation or by injection (see method 3).

Remarks:
During Tank Cleaning operation, Re-circulation method can be considered one of POPULAR METHOD. TIPS for uses of TANK CLEAN ECO.
 1. First of all remove and strip all residue manually from Tank bottom and wall, Then flush tanks with the copious amount of seawater if possible by using the high-pressure machine to remove remaining cargo to slop. (As per MARPOL 78/73)
 
 2. Then recirculate hot water inside the tanks at least for 2-10 hr, this will helps to remove oily-mud and residues in the coating/steel.
 
 3. Then again take fresh hot water inside the tank and use Tank Clean ECO 0.5 - 2 %. And continue recirculation 2-8 hr. And continuously try to maintain temperature of 60 - 65 Degree Centigrade. Hot recirculation will improve the cleaning result. Do not overheat, as this may burn the cargo. otherwise, The water is heated by means of the heating coils, cargo heat exchanger or Butterworth heater.The tanks are washed by means of a loading pump, after which the solution used is recycled to the mixing tank. One solution is most often used to wash 1 – 4 tanks.Tankclean ECO must be recirculated as a 0.2 – 0.5 % emulsion (dependent on the nature of the contamination). Allow this emulsion to circulate for 2 – 4 hours at the temperature of 10-60 °C (depending on the type of cargo).
 
 4. Again Flush entire tanks with a large amount of warm seawater (2-3 hr) to remove any residues of Chemicals.
 5. Flush tanks with freshwater to remove salts, mop and dry.


RXSOL TANK Clean ECO is added to a mixing tank containing sufficient quantity of water in order to obtain a good recirculation.
 
Tankclean ECO effectively cleans vegetable, animals, and fats.  Tanks containing drying or semi-drying oils should be flushed or prewashed or moisten as soon as possible after completion of discharging to prevent the formation of hard tenacious residues.
Expert suggestion: To save tank cleaner,  strip all residue manually which will reduce the quantities and consumption of chemicals required. Never overheat the tank which may cause dryness of residue.

Spot cleaning after most CPP / hydrocarbons.
  1. Tank Cleaner Eco may be sprayed on the bulkhead neat or diluted, to areas where residues remain after tank washing, “Spot Cleaning”. A heated dilution is found to be very efficient.
  2. The product should be allowed to stand for 10-30 minutes prior to re-washing areas. Do not leave the product to dry on the bare coating.
 3. Clean areas by flushing manually with high pressure, using fresh water, or by performing a re-circulation. For persistent deposits, agitation by scrubbing will assist the cleaning operation. Heated water will increase the cleaning effect.
ZINC coating TANK cleaning - Zinc structure is porous, a prolonged pre-cleaning with lower temperatures is highly advisable.
